Bridal Jewelery

The well known tradition of a bride wearing Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue is best suited to bridal jewelery. Many brides will wear a piece of bridal jewelery that is an antique, more than likely an heirloom, which qualifies as the Something Old. This may be a tiara or other head dress decoration.

The Something new is probably the easiest part of the rhyme to follow and may be almost anything, including the wedding ring, or another item of bridal jewelery that the bride has been given especially to wear for the wedding ceremony.

Female family members and friends are the best people to look to for a piece of bridal jewelery that can count as the Something borrowed. Quite often the item borrowed will also count as the Something old too as the bride is loaned a family heirloom.

Now onto the final piece of bridal jewelery that can fit the Something blue requirement. Of course, sapphires are the first jewel that comes to mind when you think of a blue colored stone. The bride may have sapphire earrings or a pendant and this would complete the rhymes conditions. However, there are many other blue stones that bridal jewelery can be made from including

  • turquoise,
  • aquamarine,
  • azurite,
  • blue lace agate,
  • boulder opal,
  • chalcedony,
  • lapis lazuli,
  • topaz
  • blue zircon.

There is sure to be a piece of bridal jewelry made from one of these gemstones that the bride can wear and complete the custom.
